RIKAI 理解: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
“Understanding”. A Japanese word that shares its written form with Chinese, and is spotlighted as its romanisation. Each interpretation relies on the presence of others to establish its own intelligibility. Yet, mutual understanding is hard, even beyond language. How do different areas of philosophy interact and integrate? What answer does philosophy have to the increasing demand for interdisciplinarity?
Hence, this year, we invite undergraduates in Singapore to put their minds together and explore the complex relations between specialisations within and beyond Philosophy.
