Two Ph.D Scholarships in the School of Philosophy, Australian National University, to begin February 1, 2014

Two ARC-funded Ph. D scholarships are available in Philosophy, Australian National University. The conditions of the scholarship are the same as APA scholarships. The research project is “The Origins of Inequality, Hierarchy, and Social Complexity” with Kim Sterelny as the Principal Investigator. The successful applicants would be expected to develop a dissertation relevant to that project: it would suit students with an interest and background in one or more of: the philosophy of the life sciences; the social and behavioural sciences; political and social theory; philosophy of the cognitive sciences; the relevance of evolutionary history to normative theory. Those interested are invited to e-mail Kim Sterelny at Kim.Serelny@anu.edu.au<mailto:Kim.Serelny@anu.edu.au> for a description of the research project. Their application should relate their proposed dissertation project to the ARC-funded research project, as well as including the normal application materials. The ANU scholarship deadline is October 31, and no decision on these scholarships will be made before that date; later applications may be considered, if one or more of the scholarships remain available.
