The Australasian Association of Philosophy (AAP) is searching for an Editor of the Australasian Philosophical Review (APR).
Launched in 2017, the APR is a general journal in Open Peer Commentary format. It publishes significant and controversial invited lead articles by authors from all areas of philosophy, together with invited and open peer commentaries on those lead articles, and authors’ responses to those commentaries. Each issue has a different curator, chosen by the Editorial Committee. The curator and committee choose the lead article author and invited commentaries, then select open peer commentaries following a blinded review process.
The current editor, Professor Graham Oppy, intends to step down from the role towards March 2025. To ensure a good transition, the AAP would like to ensure an offer of appointment for the new editor is accepted no later than December 2024, with a view to begin the appointment in January 2025. It is expected that the editor will be in place for a five year term, with an option to extend. It is assumed that the editor will be based in Australasia.
If you would like to find out more about the role, please email questions to the AAP's General Manager Eliza Goddard. If you would like to apply for the editor role, please submit an EOI via this form: https://airtable.com/appoxaVgPOp6BhAYb/shrrelY9N2uyUtxRI, attaching
(i) a vision statement outlining what your vision would be for the APR over the next five years and an outline of any changes you would hope to make, and formal expression of interest, and
(ii) a current CV.
Applications will be considered by the Journals Committee and will make a recommendation to the Board for approval.
Applications close on Friday 8 November 2024
